Daya Tarik OS Android Mulai Berkurang

Ada Survei terbaru mengungkap, minat para pengembang mengembangkan aplikasi untuk perangkat tablet bersistem operasi (OS) Android Google mulai memudar. Mengapa?
Menurut survei firma riset IDC dan Appcelerator, pada April, 71% pengembang mengaku masih tertarik mengembangkan aplikasi tablet Android. Padahal pada Januari jumlah peminat mencapai 74%.

Firma-firma itu mengungkap, 63% responden menyatakan, fragmentasi perangkat Android merupakan masalah terbesarnya. Sementara 30% responden menyatakan, reaksi lemah dari konsumen menjadi alasannya. Sekitar 28% pengembang yakin, terlalu banyak aplikasi di Android Market bisa membahayakan ekosistem Android. "Fragmentasi Android menjadi sudah menjadi masalah yang lebih besar dan hal ini akan memberi kesempatan bagi pesaing Google seperti Microsoft, HP, Nokia dan RIM mengeksploitasinya,” ungkap survei itu seperti dikutip PCWorld.

Sementara minat pengembang pada Android mulai menurun, minat pengembang pada iOS Apple terus meningkat. Sebanyak 91% pengembang mengaku sangat tertarik membuat aplikasi iPhone. Sekitar 86% mengatakan tertarik membuat aplikasi untuk iPad. Mungkin saja kalau OS Android dikembangkan lebih lagi bisa lain deh hasilnya…

Tablet BlackBerry = PlayBook Android

Setelah lama mendengar kabarnya saja akhirnya keluar juga. Jelang beberapa pekan sebelum BlackBerry World Conference yang akan digelar di Orlando, Florida, AS, 3-5 Mei 2011, BlackBerry PlayBook akhirnya resmi beredar. Tablet pertama buatan Research In Motion Kanada itu mulai bisa dinikmati konsumen, Selasa (19/4/2011).

Menurut Wall Street Journal, Research In Motion (RIM) diperkirakan dapat mendistribusikan 2 juta hingga 4 juta BlackBerry PlayBook selama tahun 2011. Namun, firma analis Gartner memprediksi, tablet tersebut tidak akan lebih laku, baik dibandingkan dengan iPad maupun tablet berbasis Android.

Laporan terakhir Gartner yang dirilis 11 April 2011 menunjukkan, pada tahun 2015, platform iOS Apple tetap akan mendominasi pasar tablet dengan 47,1 persen, Android 38,6 persen, dan QNX (RIM) 10 persen. Sisanya web OS 3 persen, MeeGo 1 persen, dan lain-lainnya 0,2 persen.

"Butuh waktu dan upaya lebih keras bagi RIM untuk menarik para pengembang dan menyediakan ekosistem aplikasi dan layanan yang sesuai bagi QNX untuk bisa bersaing ketat dengan iOS dan Android," kata Carolina Milanesi, VP Research Gartner. Menurutnya, pasar terbesar bagi tablet tersebut adalah para konsumen enterprise yang memang sudah menggunakan solusi BlackBerry untuk layanan teknologi informasi.
BlackBerry PlayBook memang selama ini digembar-gemborkan hadir dengan fitur canggih untuk pengguna profesional. Tablet tersebut juga diklaim paling mendukung konten web saat ini, termasuk mendukung penuh Flash. BlackBerry PlayBook juga bisa difungsikan sebagai pasangan bagi BlackBerry karena fitur tethering-nya dapat menampilkan e-mail, kalender, dan informasi lain yang ada di smartphone BlackBerry pengguna.
Adapun aplikasi Android yang disediakan merupakan aplikasi-aplikasi dari Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Playbook sendiri akan dirilis secara serentak di Amerika dan Kanada pada 19 April nanti.

Selain bocoran soal penggabungan aplikasi beda platform ini, RIM juga mengumumkan bahwa Playbook akan dilengkapi dengan HTML5 dan Flash. Untuk mendukung fitur game, Ideaworks Lab dan Unity Technologies akan mengembangkan, baik mesin maupun platform game-nya.

Dengan resminya informasi ini, Playbook kelak akan berisi tak kurang dari 25.000 aplikasi dari Blackberry Java dan 200.000 lebih aplikasi Android.
Maka dari itu, "perang" platform dan perangkat akan semakin menarik saja. Playbook, yang sempat diragukan karena kurang agresif, sekarang menjawab keraguan itu. Proses yang tidak terburu-buru dan lekas jual seperti tablet Android atau iPad ternyata di balik itu justru menawarkan sesuatu yang menggegerkan.

RIM membanderol tablet ini dengan harga yang sama seperti pesaingnya. Saat ini baru tersedia model WiFi saja dengan harga 499 dollar AS untuk model berkapasitas memori 16 GB, 599 dollar AS untuk 32 GB, dan 699 dollar AS untuk model berkapasitas memori 64 GB.

It seems RIM will keep its promise to treat in Indonesia as important customer.
This is demonstrated by a plan to display their first tablet, BlackBerry PlayBook, at Lapangan Parkir Timur Senayan in the morning and Central Park Mall Jakarta in the afternoon and evening.
As known, the tablet that available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, was just launched in US, North America and Canada last week, and tomorrow it will be displayed in Indonesia.
The displaying of BlackBerry PlayBook will be made by special designed Bus and the user will be given a chance to try it.
However, RIM has not revealed yet about the price of the PlayBook in Indonesia, hopefully RIM will make it tomorrow.
Just for information, BlackBerry PlayBook 16GB has been priced about USD500 at BestBuy Canada for pre-order package.

The new OS promises a split-screen keyboard allowing easier text input, redesigned icons , simplified search in Ovi Maps, an improved browser and enhanced security features too, and grown a new public transportation route feature.

Ponsel ber OS Android adalah salah satu platform yang membuat konsumen telekomunikasi di Indonesia makin bergairah. Selain ponsel, masyarakat juga sudah bisa menikmati Android di layar tablet lima sampai 10 inci. Harganya juga semakin terjangkau.

Ponsel pintar berbasis Android misalnya, kini sudah banyak yang bermain di kisaran harga Rp 1,5 juta ke atas. Sedangkan tablet, sudah ada yang membanderolnya di bawah Rp 3 juta.

Qualcomm adalah manufaktur chipset untuk ponsel pintar dan tablet, termasuk perangkat yang beroperasi dengan Android. Di ajang Mobile World Congress di Barcelona pada Februari lalu, perusahaan ini memperlihatkan chipset terbaru yang menawarkan performa tertinggi di pasar, meski kemungkinan baru akan terwujud di pasar pada tahun depan.

Menurut Harry, lahirnya chip-chip bertenaga harus dimanfaatkan oleh operator, vendor handset, dan penyedia konten, disamping makin kompetitifnya harga. Menurutnya, bila ketiga pihak itu bekerjasama, akan membuat industri telekomunikasi lokal di Indonesia tambah maju. "Potensinya besar," kata dia.
